Jack Schroder began his association with things medical as a Chief Pharmacist's Mate, USN.  When he was discharged after WWII, he spent some time as an adjuster for Medical Malpractice Insurance companies but did not enjoy cheating injured patients. So, he became an investigator for the California Department of Health. For many years he investigated complaints about hospital services. He began his own business Attorney's Medical Research in 1967 and began to prepare medical malpractice cases for plaintiffs' lawyers. In those days medical malpractice was the domain of few lawyers, and Schroder began to train lawyers in the work. His total medical malpractice cases taken to trial number in the hundreds, and his success rate was over 70%, a staggering figure in malpractice litigation. He claims to have worked more than 3500 cases over the years, a record number for anyone.

He has traveled to most of the Western States and many Eastern States in the course of his work. His book for lawyers, Identifying Medical Malpractice, Michie Lawbooks 1991, sold out within a year. Jack Schroder has published fiction and non fiction, and writes of his experiences over the past 70 years. His Young Adult novels have drawn critical acclaim.  He is still active and lies about his age because no one believes him.
